Who is more evil the Twinkie maker or the Twinkie eater?

I am failing my will power test. Do you remember the conversation about the bag of chips? What is the true test of will power, not purchasing your favorite bag of chips at the store, or actually buying them, but controlling how much you eat when they are in your home. On my own I don't buy much junk. I hate grocery shopping, for the past 5 years I haven't had a car and I don't enjoy cooking for 1, therefore it is easy to not put junk in your cart. Oh, I wish I'd taken a photo of the cart I saw yesterday. I thought it was one of those carts the grocery store people use to put away food that people haven't put back in the correct spot, but nope, it was someones actual cart filled with complete junk. This brings me to Twinkies. What? Who would still eat that crap? Someone really felt the need to bring back a toxic treat? Empty sugaryness of death? Why are we using our Earth's resources to manufacture a disgusting pile of wastefulness?

I went to the mall this weekend. My sister had to return something to the Apple Store and if you've ever been to an Apple Store you know that there are always a million people, half of which are employees, milling around. I couldn't be inside without having a panic attack, so I headed to a bench in the middle of the mall. For the past couple of years my only interactions with Americans has been while traveling or living overseas. I'd started to think that the world was crazy calling us Americans fat. Until Saturday. As I sat on that bench, now granted this is North Carolina, tallied an average of over 50% of people that were more than 50 pounds overweight. Not just the I have a little muffin top, or my butt is big, this was flat out obesity. Then I thought, no wonder the world is in such a state of despair.

What will it take to snap people out of their zombie state of living? The beloved Hostess company went bankrupt and someone else decided to keep making Twinkies. Who would do that?

I'm gonna have to say the "eater", because without them they're be no market for the "maker", right? Hey there, Lisa! Leigh Anne (Yow) Friesen here. Sorry we missed you when in Wilmington on Saturday. If you're around for the summer (or longer?), I'd love for you to come here one day to visit. I've got kayaks that Jon and I haven't used in FOREVER, and a place to put them in just blocks from our house. I'm most free on Monday's, but could try another day if it would be better for your schedule. I'll FB msg you some dates and my contact info. Hope to talk to you soon! LA
