What do you know about lionfish?

Here in the Caribbean the lionfish are an invasive species. In their native waters of the Pacific they are a lonely, solitary species, but here, where there are no natural predators, the lionfish are taking over entire coral reef ecosystems and wiping out our native fish and damaging the ecosystem.

Because of the lack of predators, and their promiscuity, they are multiplying out of control. What can we do? Well, they are delicious, so we can fish them and chow down.

Wait, you are wondering about their poisonous spines, aren't you? Well, yes, the spines do have a venom that, if you touch it, is toxic, but there are ways to avoid touching the spines, and actually remove them under the water, bringing up just the fish and fins.
