Turtles like to nest here so the rangers build protection for the eggs. Volunteers spend the night out on the beach to protect the nests.
I love the skinny legged sand pipers running frantically up and down the beach.
Ft. Fisher is one of my most favorite places on earth. About a 20 minute drive from my parents house this state park is protected from development so there are no houses to disrupt the landscape.
