Well Damn
Got a few messages from students from my old school. Oui. Talk about feeling guilty. It's not the students that were the problem. They are awesome. Just can't imagine spending one more year of my teaching career begging for basic supplies. Teaching is my career. I'm sticking with it. I don't have time to waste at a place that does not support me. I love teaching, ya'll know that. I want to become a better and better educator and for that I need support. Should I make decisions that benefit me? Yes, I believe so.

Moving on
So I just quit my job in Burma... yup. I've been thinking about it for months after loosing hours and hours of sleep I've decided to break my contract and not return. What am I going to do? It's not time to tell you yet. I will, don't worry, but I need some time.
This isn't about living in Burma. Yes it could be frustrating at times and the internet/censorship issues were barely bearable, but it was because of the school that I am not returning. The school is a for-profit "business" in which the "owners" were more concerned with making money than supporting the education of the students. Did I know that going in? No. I knew the school was run by a board of local people, but I had no idea that the resources would be available, but denied because of costs. Guess what? - you need stuff to teach science affectively. Yeah, yeah, I can teach with a stick in the dirt, but that is not the kind of teacher that I want to be. I want to provide my students with hands on learning opportunities, and that is difficult to do when there is one triple beam balance for the entire school of 900 students. So it wasn't that the country was too hard. It wasn't the political unrest (although the "elections" coming up and a bit scary), it was the school.
So now I'm moving on. More to come...

Back in the U S of A
Dude, I'm back. Finally. Out of the censored land. Now I can access blogger.
Jet lag sucks. After traveling for 24 straight hours I arrived and got some iced caramel coffee and fries (won't start the detox plan for a bit) and went shopping with my sister. Did you see that Bath and Body Works has buy 3 get 3 free??? Ok, so then we went to a yummy bar with lots and lots of different types of beer and ate nachos, and queso. Success, I was exhausted. Now it's 3 am and I'm awake. Damn you jet lag.
So I have a lot to catch you up on, and lucky for you I have a lot of free time this summer. Of course I can't infringe on the time it's going to take to catch up with all the episodes of "What Not to Wear".
